Welcome

INCE/Europe has ceased operations and transferred its activities to other organisations.  This website will remain until 2027 to provide a brief history of INCE/Europe and to give links to ongoing activities related to its previous work.

INCE/Europe Ltd was a non-profit distributing company operating for the benefit of Noise Control Engineering in Europe. It was a member of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE) and a sustaining member of the European Acoustics Association (EAA).  It was a company limited by guarantee and incorporated in England with number 03878571.

After Geoff Leventhall, Cathy Mackenzie and Roy Lawrence had organised the first Euronoise conference in 1992 under the auspices of the IOA, and Jean Tourret had organised the second one in Lyon in 1995 under the auspices of SFA, INCE/Europe was conceived by Geoff, Cathy, Roy and Jean with the encouragement of International INCE and formed in 1999.  The original intention was that INCE/Europe would run Euronoise every three years but in the event Euronoise was taken on by the European Acoustical Society which had been set up in 1992.

So the main objective of INCE/Europe became to increase the profile of noise control engineering in Europe, by running meetings and conferences on subjects of topical interest but not generally dealt with by other organisations.  As part of this it started the biennial conference series on Wind Turbine Noise in 2005 and similarly the series Quiet Drones in 2020.

These two series are continuing, Wind Turbine Noise under the care of Franck Bertagnolio at DTU in Denmark and Quiet Drones under the care of Antonio José Torija Martínez at Salford University in the UK.

You can find more information and links to these conferences and others on the menu tabs.
